Kasvatamme pienimuotoisesti staffordshirenbullterrierejä Pornaisten Halkiassa. Staffipiireissä ja -kasvattajana olen vielä alkumetreillä, ja tähän mennessä olen kasvattanut kuusi pentuetta.
Tavoitteeni on kasvattaa mahdollisimman terveitä ja rodunomaisia staffeja – ennen kaikkea perheenjäseniä, ihmisen parhaita ystäviä ja aktiivisia harrastuskavereita. Kasvatustyöni perustuu selkeisiin eettisiin valintoihin: ulkonäkö ei ole lähtökohta, vaan etusijalla ovat terveys ja luonne.
Panostan jalostusvalinnoissa erityisesti terveyteen. Käyttämäni jalostuskoirat ovat kattavasti tutkittuja, ja suosin koiria, joilta on tutkittu enemmän kuin PEVISAn minimivaatimukset. Tavoitteeni on tehdä pitkäjänteistä työtä rodun hyvinvoinnin eteen, avoimesti ja vastuullisesti.
Luonne ja harrastusominaisuudet ovat minulle vähintään yhtä tärkeitä kuin terveys. Haluan kasvattaa tasapainoisia koiria, joilla on sopivasti potkua tekemiseen, mutta jotka ovat arjessa mutkattomia ja helposti eläviä kumppaneita. Koiria, jotka lähtevät innolla mukaan – mutta osaavat myös rauhoittua.
Rakenteellisesti suosin kevyempää kuin raskasta tyyppiä: ketterää, tasapainoista, kestävää ja sporttista staffia. Kaikki kasvattini eivät välttämättä ole näyttelykehien kirkkaimpia tähtiä, eikä se ole tavoitteeni. Minulle tärkeintä on selkeä rotutyyppi ja toimiva, koiraa tukeva rakenne.
Valitsen yhdistelmät huolella ja tutustun mahdollisimman laajasti jalostuskoiriin sekä niiden taustoihin. Jokainen pentue on harkittu kokonaisuus – yhdistelmä, josta voisin itsekin hyvillä mielin ottaa pennun.
Pennut kasvavat osana arkea, tiiviissä kontaktissa ihmisiin ja muihin koiriin. Ne saavat turvallisen, virikkeellisen ja kokemusrikkaan alun elämälleen – pohjan, jolle on hyvä rakentaa.

We are a small-scale breeder of Staffordshire Bull Terriers in Halkia, Pornainen, Finland. I am still in the early stages of my journey as a breeder, having bred four litters so far.
My goal is to breed Staffordshire Bull Terriers that are as healthy and true to type as possible—first and foremost as family members, loyal companions, and active partners in everyday life. My breeding is guided by clear ethical principles: appearance is never the starting point—health and temperament always come first.
Health plays a central role in my breeding decisions. The dogs I use are extensively health tested, and I favor individuals that have been examined beyond the minimum requirements of the official breed health program (PEVISA). My aim is to contribute to the long-term well-being of the breed through responsible and transparent breeding practices.
Temperament and working ability are just as important to me as health. I strive to produce well-balanced dogs with enough drive for various activities, while remaining easygoing and adaptable in everyday life. Dogs that are eager to engage—but also able to settle.
In terms of structure, I prefer a lighter type over a heavier one—agile, balanced, durable, and athletic. Not all of my dogs will be top winners in the show ring, and that is not my primary goal. What matters most to me is a clear breed type and a functional structure that supports the dog’s well-being.
I carefully plan each breeding combination and make an effort to get to know both the dogs and their backgrounds as thoroughly as possible. Every litter is a thoughtfully considered whole—always a combination from which I would happily keep a puppy myself.
Puppies are raised as part of everyday life, in close contact with people and other dogs. They are given a safe, enriching, and experience-rich start—providing a strong foundation for their future.
